The BTS-XR Bi-Ocular features a massive thermal resolution of 640 x 480, with a whopping maximum range of 2675 yards with a 100mm lens. The BTS-XR is the ultimate long range platform built for distance and comfort.
The BTS-XR must be paired with one of three lenses to make for a premiere surveillance system. 35mm, 60mm or 100mm lenses are available for the furthest possible reach. All BTS cameras include the ability to capture and record both video and still imagery to a removable SD card in jpeg and mp4 formats.
The BTS-XR outputs to two screens, each with adjustable diopters plus an additional video out display through the included hot-shoe. It runs of 6 field replaceable AA batteries. The both-eyes-open feature of the Bi-Ocular design virtually eliminates viewing fatigue.
This full-sized device can use different polarities to fit varying situations and environments. White-hot and black-hot displays are the FLIR military standard, but you also get 4 levels of Instalert™ polarity, which will isolate heat signatures above a certain threshold and highlight them a bright red. All polarities are compatible with the camera feature.
The BTS-XR is best used tripod mounted for extended scanning, and features a 4x digital e-zoom. When trying to maximize detection range: the 4x magnification can bring up even smallest hot-spot.
FLIR thermal night vision uses infrared radiation to build its image, which means it sees heat not light.
This means that thermal night vision highlights temperature differences in the scene its interpreting. That makes FLIR the pinnacle of detection. When it comes to spotting the odd part out in a scene, even in total darkness, thermal differentiates like no other technology.
Because it's seeking out temperature differences and heat signatures, FLIR cameras can be just as useful in daylight as they are at night. In low contrast environments, heat will still be a differentiator regardless of any camouflage. This also works at long distances where your eye may not pickup a distant object. A FLIR camera will highlight that far off heat signature, even if it's just a cluster of pixels different.
Reading infrared radiation also means that these units are not blocked by the kind of things that might interfere with our vision. Particulate obstacles like smoke, dust, and fog have a much smaller thermal signature, and so the FLIR camera can see right through them. Even snow and rain to an extent will have less of an effect through thermals than they would on your naked eye.
