FLIR Scout BTS-XR Pro Thermal Night Vision Bi-Ocular

The BTS-XR Bi-Ocular features a massive thermal resolution of 640 x 480, with a whopping maximum range of 2675 yards with a 100mm lens. The BTS-XR is the ultimate long range platform built for distance and comfort.

The BTS-XR must be paired with one of three lenses to make for a premiere surveillance system. 35mm, 60mm or 100mm lenses are available for the furthest possible reach. All BTS cameras include the ability to capture and record both video and still imagery to a removable SD card in jpeg and mp4 formats.

FLIR Scout BTS-X Series Thermal Night Vision

Thermal Night Vision in the Palm of Your Hand

The BTS-XR outputs to two screens, each with adjustable diopters plus an additional video out display through the included hot-shoe. It runs of 6 field replaceable AA batteries. The both-eyes-open feature of the Bi-Ocular design virtually eliminates viewing fatigue.

This full-sized device can use different polarities to fit varying situations and environments. White-hot and black-hot displays are the FLIR military standard, but you also get 4 levels of Instalert™ polarity, which will isolate heat signatures above a certain threshold and highlight them a bright red. All polarities are compatible with the camera feature.

The BTS-XR is best used tripod mounted for extended scanning, and features a 4x digital e-zoom. When trying to maximize detection range: the 4x magnification can bring up even smallest hot-spot.

Features 4 Night Vision Modes

FLIR Scout Will Help You:

  • See people - keep track of the rest of your hiking or camping party in the darkest nights, and even when they're obscured by light foliage.
  • See animals - everything gives off heat, so animals can't use their natural camouflage to hide from Scout. Discover those hard-to-spot animals that you've always wanted to see, day and night.
  • Track game - sportsmen can use Scout to track wounded animals by following their heat signatures directly, or by detecting signs they leave behind like blood trails and foot prints.
  • Navigate - no more losing the trail at night or in bad visibility; with Scout, you'll be able to navigate just as well at night as you can during the day.
  • Stay safe - Scout's thermal night vision technology lets you see clearly through smoke, dust, and light fog so you can stay safe in the outdoors when conditions deteriorate.
  • See more, and see farther, than with other night vision technologies - because Scout sees clearly without any light whatsoever, it can see farther at night than other imaging technologies that need ambient light to work, and can see heat sources that these other cameras could never find.

What is Thermal Night Vision?

FLIR thermal night vision uses infrared radiation to build its image, which means it sees heat not light.

This means that thermal night vision highlights temperature differences in the scene its interpreting. That makes FLIR the pinnacle of detection. When it comes to spotting the odd part out in a scene, even in total darkness, thermal differentiates like no other technology.

Because it's seeking out temperature differences and heat signatures, FLIR cameras can be just as useful in daylight as they are at night. In low contrast environments, heat will still be a differentiator regardless of any camouflage. This also works at long distances where your eye may not pickup a distant object. A FLIR camera will highlight that far off heat signature, even if it's just a cluster of pixels different.

Reading infrared radiation also means that these units are not blocked by the kind of things that might interfere with our vision. Particulate obstacles like smoke, dust, and fog have a much smaller thermal signature, and so the FLIR camera can see right through them. Even snow and rain to an extent will have less of an effect through thermals than they would on your naked eye.

FLIR BTS-XR Pro Scout Thermal Imaging Camera, 307200 Pixels (640 x 480) Detection Range

The range of thermal night vision is determined by the resolution of the detector and the size of the lens. These sample images of a man and a vehicle at different distances demonstrate the difference between Identification and Detection through a BTS-XR Pro.

Key Features

  • Quick-Disconnect Modularity: Customize thermal capability for specific tasks by selecting from three available lens options - 35mm, 65mm, or 100mm extended range. Each of these high-performance thermal lenses allow rapid field exchange via an integral quick disconnect feature. The lenses are lightweight and easily focused, reducing arm strain during long viewing sessions.
  • Extended Range Options: The BTS-X Pro model bi-ocular provides excellent long range viewing with sharp 320 x 240 native resolution in the viewfinder, and a 2x digital e-zoom step to 160 x 120.
  • Enhanced Lens Surfaces: Raised rubber sleeves and captive low-profile lens caps help protect your lens investment as well as providing excellent grip/sensitivity.
  • Faster Power & Battery Swap: A quick release hot-shoe literally makes access to AC power a "snap," and a latched battery door provides fast and easy access to exchange or recondition batteries.
  • One-Touch Recording: The ability to capture both photos and video is standard on all Scout Bi-Ocular models. One-touch recording frees up hands to focus and zoom during an exciting event to get the best video possible. If you are serious about the great outdoors, why limit your opportunity to only the daylight hours? Experience nature in vivid detail 24/7 with the Scout Bi-Ocular.
